In 2005 I started my training at Great Lakes Helicopter and was licensed in 2006. Following completion of my training, I was offered full-time employment at Great Lakes Helicopter as Ground School Instructor, which I accepted without a second thought. Going into my training, I knew that if I were to pursue a commercial helicopter career, I would have to make some difficult life decisions. I left a well-established career in Software Development and have not looked back since. Thru mentorship and guidance given to me by Pilots and Management of Great Lakes, I have progressed in my helicopter career, moving from Ground School Instruction to Junior Charter Pilot to Flight Instructor. I have now accumulated over 1000 flight hours and now meet minimum requirements to be considered to be placed on advanced Charter flights, including working for the Ministry of Natural resources partaking in Fire Suppression activities.
Choosing Great Lakes Helicopter was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It was one of the biggest decisions I have made, but no regrets…I now have an office in the sky with the best view and loving every single minute of it.

Stan Mance, Commercial Helicopter Pilot
I began training with Great Lakes Helicopter to fulfill a childhood dream of becoming a pilot. After receiving very professional and thorough training from Great Lakes Helicopter Corp., I obtained my private helicopter license in October 2008. I immediately began to enjoy the innovative 3-P program, flying the R44 helicopter. In fact, I was the 'inaugural pilot' at the inception of 3-P. Since joining the program I have made a range of very enjoyable and interesting flights, all the while gaining more experience as a pilot. From the scheduling of each flight to time of take-off and assistance after landing, the entire staff at Great Lakes Helicopter makes every effort to be of professional and friendly support. They are very efficient, friendly, eager to help and have a due concern for safety and enjoyment, certainly making 3-P membership worth joining and staying with. I am very grateful to all at Great Lakes Helicopter who have continued to make it possible for me to enjoy the thrill of helicopter flight.
