Great Lakes Helicopter Introductory Flights are a true “hands-on” flying experience for those interested in flying helicopters! We spend time with you and cover any questions you might have regarding our training courses while having the opportunity to actually fly.
We will do a thorough inspection of the helicopter and you get a safety briefing. Depending on whether you choose the Introductory Flight or the Orientation Flight, time is accredited towards your training.
The One Hour Introductory Flight is ideal for individuals interested in exploring Helicopter Flight with an opportunity to assist one of our Transport Canada Licensed Flight Instructors at the Controls.
Duration: One Hour (1/2 hour in the helicopter – 1/2 hour briefing/debriefing)
This lesson includes: Aircraft Inspection, Safety Briefing, Flight Briefing/Debriefing, covering the effects of the controls during the Hover and Upper Air Flight with 30 Minutes Flight Time Instruction at the Controls of a Robinson R22 or R44 helicopter. This is a “Hands on Experience.”
Total Cost: $275.00 plus HST (R22 Helicopter); $420.00 plus HST (R44 Helicopter)
The Orientation flight is designed for individuals who are interested in a more detailed experience, or wish to pursue Flight Training as a Helicopter Pilot.
Duration: 3 Hours
- One Hour Instruction in Basic Helicopter Flight Theory and Flight Dynamics
- 30 minute Flight in our FTD Level 2 Approved Flight Simulator
- 30 minutes Aircraft Safety and Inspection
- One Hour “Hands on” Flight Instruction in a Robinson R22 or R44 helicopter with one of our Transport Canada Licensed Flight Instructors.
The flight session includes: In Ground Effect Hovering, Upper Air Flight, Autorotations (demonstration only) Confined Area Landings, Towering Take Offs, Out of Ground Effect Hover, and Rapid Decelerations.
Total Cost: $600.00 plus HST (R22 Helicopter); $800 + HST (R44 Helicopter)
