Alternate (Conversion) Training
For individuals who are looking to make a career out of flying in the aviation industry.

ALTERNATE COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENCE – HELICOPTER:

Great Lakes Helicopter is pleased to announce that we are "registered as a private career college under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005". Diploma issued upon completion of Commercial Pilot-Helicopter program.

  • Eligibility: You must hold a valid Commercial LIcence - Airplane
  • Age: Same as Commercial Licence-Helicopter
  • Valid For : Same as Commercial Licence-Helicopter
  • Privileges: Same as Commercial Licence-Helicopter
  • Knowledge: 20 hrs of ground school Pass 30 question multiple choice (CHRAC) exam by obtaining at least 60%
  • Experience: Minimum 60 hrs total helicopter time; with minimum 37 hrs dual flight time including 10 hrs (5 hrs may be simulator) of instrument flight time and 5 hrs of cross-country flight time.
  • Minimum 23 hrs solo flight time-including 10 hrs of solo cross-country flight time with 1 cross-country flight of not less than 2 hrs flight time from the point of departure and 3 full stop landings at points other than the point of departure.
  • Skill: Pass a flight test of approximately 1.5 hrs.

ALTERNATE PRIVATE PILOT LICENCE – HELICOPTER:

  • Eligibility: You must hold a valid Private or Commercial Licence-Airplane
  • Valid For: Same as Private Licence-Helicopter
  • Privileges: Same as Private Licence-Helicopter
  • Knowledge: 20 hrs of ground school Pass a 30 question multiple choice (PHRAC) exam obtaining at least 60%.
  • Experience: Minimum 30 hrs total helicopter time; with minimum 17 hours dual flight time including 5 hrs (3 hrs may be simulator) of instrument flight time and 3 hrs of cross-country flight time.
  • Minimum 8 hrs solo flight time-including 3 hrs of cross-country flight time with 1 cross-country flight of not less than 100 nautical miles and 2 full stop landings at points other than the point of departure.
  • Skill: Pass a flight test of approximately 1.5 hrs.
