Great Lakes Helicopter is located just a 45 minute drive from Toronto.  We are nestled among the cities of Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph and Waterloo and offer the most diverse international culture in Canada. About 59,200 post-secondary students from all around the world attend Conestoga College, University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, and more than 30,000 students live in the area. More than a half of all Canada’s immigrants come to Ontario, making the province a suitable place for newcomers.

The surrounding urban and rural areas are great for providing diverse training environments, so pilots can acquire many different abilities. Also, the weather of Southern Ontario allows the students to become familiar with weather operations without facing the severe cold of the north.

The Region of Waterloo International Airport (YFK) is the perfect place for a flight student. Unlike airports with no control zone, the students here can naturally improve their radio skills by the constant communication between the pilot and the air traffic controller.

The airport also hosts Rotor Services Limited a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization that has been professionally maintaining Robinson Helicopters from the same location for 30 years. Rotor Services Limited is a long time Robinson Helicopter Company Service Center for all models R22, R44 and R66. Capabilities include component overhaul and Main Rotor Blade Repair.

Great Lakes Helicopter offers transportation from Conestoga College to the airport. It is easy for the students to commute within Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge using the Grand River Transit (GRT) services, with no need to buy your own car.

Finding a house is not difficult for our international students. The easiest option is finding a homestay that includes a private bedroom, food for up to three meals a day, and the opportunity to live with a Canadian family.

Another option is to rent a house, apartment or even a bedroom by yourself. That way you have more freedom and may also share your rent with another student.

If you decide on our Conestoga College Diploma Program, students can also apply for on-campus residence at the college.
